About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage financial risks and regulatory compliance for Hiscox USA
- Assist with financial strategy
- Lead Accounting, Financial Reporting, Treasury, and related areas
- Build, develop, and resource a team of approximately ten Finance professionals
- Drive effective and efficient processes across all functions
- Manage and ensure compliance with robust financial controls
- Deliver accurate and timely financial results
- Lead BAU financial accounting and enforce related controls
- Oversee accounting of Hiscox USA results under IFRS and US insurance carriers under STAT
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of internal and external financial statements
- Manage financial, regulatory, and compliance reporting
- Oversee treasury and cash management, including cash forecasting, liquidity management, funding requirements, banking operations, excess cash yield management, and foreign exchange exposures
- Lead accounting policy and procedure implementation, transactional services, financial integration, and accounting process improvements
- Partner with the Chief Financial Officer and senior leadership on profitability and regulatory compliance decisions
- Lead initiatives involving capital, reinsurance, investment, risk, reserve, and tax
- Facilitate Board and Audit Committee meetings with financial and capital results and updates
- Manage relationships with auditors, actuaries, regulators, tax authorities, banks, financial institutions, and service providers
- Scale the function and drive continuous process improvements and transformation
- Lead and support strategic projects including M&A, financial integration, transformation initiatives, and cross-functional programs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience in General Insurance or an equivalent highly regulated industry (e.g. banking, energy) strongly preferred
- Solid experience in planning and building operational processes
- Analytical and metrics-based approach
- Experience maintaining accurate financial reporting and regulatory compliance
- Proven track record collaborating with and managing senior stakeholders across the enterprise
- Ability to translate strategic thinking into tangible plans and delivery
- Significant people management and leadership experience
- Deep technical acumen and regulatory knowledge
- Strong accounting professional judgment
- High learning agility and intellectual curiosity
- Entrepreneurial spirit to work in a complex and global environment
- Proven track record collaborating with and managing stakeholders across all levels, including senior management and board level
- Strong financial management and technical accounting capabilities
- Experience overseeing Accounting and Controls, Financial Reporting, Tax and Compliance, and Capital and Risk Management in a highly regulated industry ideally
- CPA license (minimum requirement)
