About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Equip Underwriting Teams with the latest exposure information and insights into portfolio trends
- Deliver exposure roll-ups to the Hiscox Group for internal, investor and regulatory requirements
- Ensure data, methodologies and assumptions are correct and up to date
- Ensure results are reviewed by and communicated to Underwriting teams
- Work with Underwriters, Pricing Analysts, the Group Exposure Management team and external service providers
- Continuously improve exposure management approaches
- Lead implementation of meaningful ways to answer exposure management questions
- Move existing processes forward and implement new and better ways of working through a controlled environment
- Increase focus on analysis and delivering insight back to the business
- Take ownership, work independently and make sound data-backed business decisions
- Find solutions to problems without established approaches
Requirements
What you’ll need- Educated to degree level in Data Analytics, Geography or a related numerate subject, 2:1 or above
- Recent graduates with a strong technical foundation are encouraged to apply, as are candidates with relevant industry or analytical experience
- Experience of, or a demonstrable interest in, coding, data analysis and quantitative problem-solving
- Knowledge of at least one of: Excel, SQL, Python, R, VBA or similar analytical tools
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Fluent written and spoken business English
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Ability to interpret data, identify trends and communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to work collaboratively with varied stakeholders and build effective working relationships
- Ability to challenge assumptions and translate analysis into meaningful business insights
- Highly organised, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Interest in technology, coding, automation and data-driven problem-solving
- Nice-to-have: experience using Python, SQL, R or other analytical programming languages
- Nice-to-have: exposure to insurance, risk management, catastrophe modelling or exposure management
- Nice-to-have: experience working with large or complex datasets
- Nice-to-have: Tableau Desktop experience
- Nice-to-have: Dataiku experience
