About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Manage and develop the portfolio profitably
Analyse and diagnose the performance and behaviour of the portfolios under responsibility
Validate profitable growth and ensure alignment with the company’s strategy
Optimise product-market fit through pricing, coverage, underwriting and product innovation
Maintain profitability and propose corrective actions in the event of adverse trends
Maintain and develop technical expertise and mastery of the underwriting guidelines
Contribute to updates to the underwriting guidelines and their adaptation to the local market
Evolve pricing algorithms with European actuaries
Clarify underwriting intentions and translate them into clauses and policy wordings
Review claims performance to manage and project profitability
Respond to referral requests and support underwriters
Train and develop underwriting capabilities
Support sales teams and underwriters in their relationships with partners
Organise and lead product development, product improvement and underwriting projects
Contribute to end-to-end scheme development projects on the technical side
Collaborate with Underwriting, Marketing and Communications, Change and IT teams
Act as an ambassador for Hiscox expertise on social media and as a media spokesperson

Requirements

What you’ll need

Underwriting experience or an underwriting background
Strong analytical skills, particularly in working with data, Excel and key performance indicators
Ability to diagnose issues based on data or facts
Knowledge of all or some of the four insurance lines under responsibility, or the ability to learn and master them
Ability to balance responsive operational work with proactive project development
Fluency in French required
Fluency in English or excellent command of English required
Strong organisational, diplomatic and teaching skills
Ability to explain complex topics simply, persuade others and bring people together
