About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop, implement, and maintain pricing processes, tools, and strategies across Professional Liability, General Liability, BOP, Management Liability, Cyber, and other specialty commercial products
  • Develop and implement rate strategies through deep analysis and manage the rate filing process
  • Manage a small team of analysts executing and implementing rate strategy
  • Create, maintain, and streamline rate filing processes, including rate indications, factor reviews, competitor comparisons, recommendations, impact analysis, and rate filing exhibits
  • Manage rate filing implementation by partnering with IT, updating raters, supporting QA, and monitoring post-change impacts
  • Support the quarterly rate indication process
  • Apply and communicate standard actuarial techniques and methodologies
  • Communicate product concerns and recommendations to relevant organizational teams
  • Develop data processes, create SQL queries, build validation processes, and address data inconsistencies
  • Serve as primary pricing liaison for multiple lines of business, including product rate adequacy, new product development, strategic change initiatives, rate filings, and regulatory requirements
  • Report directly to the Head of Pricing with the objective of creating sustainable and profitable growth for Hiscox USA

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of actuarial pricing experience, preferably in small business commercial or personal lines
  • 5+ CAS exams or already attained the ACAS credentials
  • Education equivalent to a college degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics or related field, or the equivalent in related work experience
  • Team leadership experience with project management skills
  • Experience handling and managing rate filings
  • Coding skills in SQL, VBA, and/or R
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong math, analytical and problem-solving skills
