About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, govern, and evolve end-to-end technology solutions supporting underwriting, policy administration, billing, claims, and distribution
- Partner with business leaders, product owners, engineering teams, and third-party vendors
- Architect scalable, secure, compliant solutions aligned with enterprise architecture standards
- Translate complex business requirements into actionable solution designs
- Adapt communication style for technical engineers and senior executive stakeholders
- Own architecture strategy and design for complex programs of work
- Communicate technical, architectural, functional, impact, and risk elements to technical and non-technical project members
- Present options, risks, and recommendations with technical leadership
- Document and develop As-Is, Transformation, and End-State/To-Be architecture artifacts
- Defend solutions before local and enterprise Architecture Review Boards
- Validate architecture artifacts against current implementations and assess impacts of changes
- Support downstream system integrations including Reporting, Document Production, and Finance
- Acquire and apply business-domain knowledge to convey concepts and recommendations
- Engage with technical teams in solution delivery, including testing and development across multiple technologies
- Serve as a resource for solution and technical architects
- Review other architects’ solutions for alignment with program goals
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of experience in solution, systems, or enterprise architecture
- 5+ years of experience in insurance technology environments, specifically current market leading Claims platforms
- Strong knowledge of P&C or Commercial insurance operations (policy lifecycle, claims, billing)
- Experience with Core Insurance Platforms
- Demonstrable practical experience and understanding of best practice architecture principles
- Strong communication, storytelling and presentation skills
- Ability to engage, influence and motivate stakeholders at all levels
- Experience in an Agile software development environment
- Strong software engineering or lead developer experience, with ability to apply that experience to Solution Architecture
- Track record of managing architecture of multiple change projects/programs in a complex environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Results/outcomes-driven and able to succeed in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to assist other solution and technical architects with complex architecture issues
- Ability to review architects’ solutions and align them with program goals
- Motivated self-starter able to work autonomously and in a team
- Excellent interpersonal, organization and time-management skills
- Cooperative, flexible and able to work well with others
- Experience with Java and/or Microsoft .NET
- Experience with relational database systems such as Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle
- Experience with integration platforms such as webMethods and Apigee
