About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, govern, and evolve end-to-end technology solutions supporting underwriting, policy administration, billing, claims, and distribution
- Partner with business leaders, product owners, engineering teams, and third-party vendors
- Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, compliant, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards
- Drive transformation of applications supporting the Traded/Broker business
- Interact with technical engineers and senior executive stakeholders, adapting communication style to stakeholder needs
- Own architecture strategy and design for complex programs of work
- Communicate technical, architectural, functional, impact, and risk elements to technical and non-technical project members
- Present options, risks, and recommendations with technical leadership
- Document and develop As-Is, Transformation, and End-State/To-Be architectural artifacts
- Defend architecture solutions before local and enterprise Architecture Review Boards
- Confirm architecture artifacts match current implementations and assess effects of changes on current and future implementations
- Support downstream system integrations including Reporting, Document Production, and Finance
- Acquire and use business-domain language and knowledge to convey concepts and recommendations
- Assist technical teams in delivering solutions, including understanding testing requirements and engaging in solution development across multiple technologies
- Serve as a resource for solution and technical architects addressing complex architecture issues
- Review other architects’ solutions and ensure alignment with program goals
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of experience in solution, systems, or enterprise architecture
- 5+ years of experience in insurance technology environments
- Strong knowledge of P&C or Commercial insurance operations (policy lifecycle, claims, billing)
- Experience with Core Insurance Platforms
- Demonstrable practical experience and understanding of best practice architecture principles
- Strong communication, storytelling and presentation skills; ability to engage, influence and motivate stakeholders at all levels
- Experience in an Agile software development environment
- Strong software engineering or lead developer experience, with ability to apply that experience to Solution Architecture
- Track record of managing the architecture of multiple change projects/programs in a complex environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work autonomously and add value in a team
- Excellent interpersonal, organization and time management skills
- Must be cooperative, flexible and able to work well with others
- Experience with Java and/or Microsoft .NET
- Experience with relational database systems such as Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle
- Experience with integration platforms such as webMethods and Apigee
