About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide broad support within the Syndicate Accounting and Reporting team during a transformation to an outsourced offshore operating model
  • Support full financial controllership duties for three managed syndicates, the managing agent and corporate member
  • Review, produce, maintain, reconcile and analyse accounting ledgers
  • Perform financial analytics and comprehensive external and internal reporting
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and resolve differences
  • Perform balance sheet analytics and explain key movements
  • Support Lloyd’s quarterly and annual regulatory returns
  • Meet internal deadlines for group financial reporting schedules and respond to queries
  • Prepare Lloyd’s results commentary for governance committees
  • Manage Corporate Member accounting and reporting requirements
  • Build relationships with Group Finance, Actuarial, Syndicate Reporting and IT stakeholders
  • Provide services to reserving, Syndicate FP&A and Group teams
  • Manage group reporting requirements for managed syndicates, managing agent, corporate member and associated non-insurance entities
  • Act as a contact for technical queries concerning syndicate financial accounting and reporting
  • Develop and implement processes to improve reporting efficiency and financial accuracy
  • Assist the Syndicate Accounting and Reporting Manager with controllership, reporting and close activities
  • Build relationships with auditors and resolve audit queries
  • Maintain and update the financial control framework
  • Apply group accounting policies during accounting and reconciliations
  • Identify and implement process improvements
  • Coach and mentor team members on Syndicate Accounting and Reporting

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Qualified accountant and/or relevant experience in a senior accounting and Lloyd’s Reporting role
  • Educated to degree level and/or relevant demonstrable experience in syndicate financial accounting and reporting
  • Excellent working knowledge of Lloyd’s reporting requirements, IFRS 17 and UKGAAP
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Exposure to data modelling software and accounting ledger is beneficial
  • Exposure to distributed teams and relationship building with stakeholders in different locations
  • Flexible attitude and willingness to get involved at all levels
  • Prior experience of Lloyd’s Accounting and Reporting is advantageous
