About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as Head of Legal for Hitachi Energy’s legal entity in Finland
  • Provide legal advice to all business units in Finland, with an oversight role for the Baltics
  • Ensure contractual activities comply with relevant regulations, instructions, and local statutory provisions
  • Implement global legal strategy and advise local management and business units on legal and integrity issues
  • Provide expert legal advice on contracts, tenders, and projects under execution
  • Develop legal strategies, mitigation actions, and practical solutions supporting business activities
  • Negotiate contract terms with customers and liaise with internal stakeholders, including risk review processes
  • Promote dispute avoidance and manage disputes and litigation
  • Ensure corporate governance and management of the operational company at country level
  • Support implementation of the Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and assist with integrity-related investigations and resolutions
  • Participate in the local Country Management Team and local Board of Directors
  • Act as local contact point for data privacy matters with the global Privacy Team
  • Design and deliver training on contractual and legal topics
  • Participate in the global Legal and Integrity community and support the global team
  • Manage and lead one direct report, Legal Counsel
  • Travel domestically and overseas occasionally

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • University Law Degree (Master of Law)
  • Finnish and English language skills
  • Strong interest in technology and process improvement
  • 7–10 years of strong experience relating to major construction/engineering projects, complex international corporate and commercial transactions, claims, and litigations
  • Experience in YSE 1998, FIDIC, NL/NLM, and Orgalim general terms and conditions is a benefit
  • Committed, business-minded, and solution-oriented
  • Well-developed communication, self-confidence, strong decision-making capability, and interpersonal skills including team spirit
  • Ability to influence at all levels
  • Willingness to undergo applicable pre-employment background and security checks
