About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and design protection and control systems for electrical power projects and customers
- Design and develop protection and control schemes for substations and power systems
- Prepare design criteria, schematics, wiring diagrams, relay settings, test plans, and reports
- Review and validate vendor equipment specifications and technical documentation
- Ensure designs comply with national standards, customer requirements, best practices, and safety policies
- Coordinate technical activities across design, testing, and commissioning throughout the project lifecycle
- Support project managers with technical input for proposals, cost estimates, and risk assessments
- Monitor project progress against scope, schedule, and budget
- Resolve engineering and design issues with focus on safety, quality, and compliance
- Perform relay testing, SCADA integration, and communication protocol verification using Modbus, DNP3, and GOOSE
- Use DOBLE and OMICRON test equipment for system validation
- Conduct customer meetings, provide installation and commissioning support, and recommend system improvements
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, engineering, project managers, customers, and cross-functional teams
- Mentor junior engineers and participate in technical training and continuous improvement initiatives
- Promote safety and integrity across all project phases
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience in protection and control engineering for power systems
- Knowledge of protective relays, SCADA systems, and communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, GOOSE)
- Familiarity with substation automation and high-voltage equipment
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Experience with engineering tools and test equipment (DOBLE, OMICRON)
- Professional Engineering license or certification preferred
