About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage the commissioning phase of Utilities and Data Centre substation projects
  • Focus on safety, quality, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and innovative energy solutions
  • Work with cross-functional teams to integrate and optimize digital engineering solutions
  • Engage clients and stakeholders to align projects with community values and expectations
  • Prepare and review project documentation and reports
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers
  • Manage testing of substation equipment
  • Prepare project commissioning programs, including schedules and inspection and test plans, during tender and site execution phases
  • Ensure compliance with Hitachi EHS and Quality Policies and project specifications
  • Perform site-based commissioning activities with travel required in Ireland and the EU

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in electrical engineering or a related field
  • Knowledge of electrical safety standards, policies, procedures, and practices
  • Experience working in Ireland in testing and commissioning HV substation equipment, protection, and control systems
  • Experience implementing and executing Safe Systems of Work, LV permits, and lock-out tag-out procedures
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements and The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
  • Experience developing commissioning programs and supporting procedures
  • Commissioning experience on HV/MN substations
  • Highly motivated and able to work under pressure
  • Willingness to travel in Ireland/EU
  • EU right to work required
  • Visa sponsorship unavailable
  • Willingness to undergo applicable pre-employment background and security checks
