About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Welcome customers, answer questions, help locate items, and provide advice or recommendations
Operate scanners, scales, cash registers, and other electronics
Balance the cash register and generate credit and debit sales reports
Accept payments, verify prices and quantities, and provide receipts
Process refunds and exchanges and resolve complaints
Bag or wrap purchases for safe transport
Follow procedures for coupons, gift cards, and restricted-item purchases
Maintain a clean workspace, store cleanliness, and product presentation
Verify IDs for anyone under 30 before tobacco or alcohol sales
Sell gasoline, cigarettes, beverages, food, and miscellaneous items
Receive cash, checks, and credit-card transactions
Count money, issue receipts, and provide accurate change
Restock shelves and coolers
Report low stock of materials and supplies when applicable

Requirements

What you’ll need

Must apply reasonable judgment and understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds of force occasionally
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
Reliable transportation and a working telephone
Must be 18 years of age
Six months to one-year experience in a related area preferred
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Must successfully complete Class C Certification
Ability to know what to do in case of fuel spills at the location
