About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead strategic business development plans for assigned Corporate, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Securities Practice Groups
  • Advise Practice Group Leaders and senior attorneys on growth opportunities, market positioning, targeting, differentiation, investments, and business development
  • Lead business development agendas for practice group and team meetings
  • Develop, recommend, and manage practice group and team budgets, including forecasting, resource allocation, expenditure oversight, and ROI analysis
  • Lead complex RFPs, pitches, proposals, and client presentations
  • Drive cross-practice, cross-office, and cross-industry initiatives and account strategies
  • Direct market, competitive, client, target, and industry research and translate insights into recommendations
  • Oversee directory, ranking, and awards submissions
  • Set content strategy and oversee marketing collateral, practice descriptions, brochures, deal and case lists, website content, and related materials
  • Partner with PR and Communications on visibility strategies, thought leadership, significant matters, and attorney profiles
  • Oversee CRM, experience, pipeline, and engagement data quality and reporting
  • Develop and oversee events, sponsorships, seminars, webinars, and client engagement programs
  • Lead, supervise, develop, and mentor Managers, Coordinators, Assistants, and other team members
  • Establish best practices, strengthen collaboration, and advance firm-wide priorities
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule and full engagement during business hours
  • Perform special projects and other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or relevant professional certification highly valued
  • 10+ years of professional experience in business development and/or marketing, preferably in a legal or professional services environment
  • Enterprise-level strategic thinking and ability to independently develop, prioritize, and execute measurable growth plans
  • Advanced business and financial acumen
  • Exceptional communication skills, including executive-level advising, persuasive writing, facilitation, and senior-level presentations
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management capabilities
  • Exceptional interpersonal, judgment, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to operate autonomously and manage multiple complex, high-impact priorities
  • High professionalism, discretion, accountability, and sound judgment with sensitive or confidential matters
  • Advanced consulting, presentation, negotiation, and executive-influence skills
  • Innovative and solutions-oriented mindset
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or Microsoft 365
  • Experience with CRM (InterAction), proposal (Qorus), experience-management (Foundation), and business intelligence platforms preferred
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Moderate or advanced keyboard usage
