About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Join the executive team as a full partner in setting strategy
- Form a view of product, technology, and market direction and bring it to product leadership, the CEO, and the executive team
- Sharpen existing strategic bets and identify new ones
- Build alignment and shared direction across the executive team
- Explain engineering direction clearly and repeatedly to engineers, managers, executives, and the wider company
- Lead and develop a high-performing engineering organization
- Direct engineering talent toward the company’s biggest opportunities
- Adjust organizational structure, goals, and ways of working to improve effectiveness
- Lead through technical credibility during AI-driven changes in software development and observability
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience leading engineering through large-scale changes in direction, not just growth
- Shipped software with AI tools within the last 12 months
- Special talent for collaboration and improving executive teams
- Interest in shaping strategy as well as executing it
- Experience at a larger company and understanding of what breaks as companies scale, with early-stage startup risk tolerance
- Comfortable with uncertainty, rapid change, and shaping new bets toward product-market fit
- Experience leading distributed teams
- Strong written and in-person communication
- Interest in developer tools and good taste in them
- Shared company values
