About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms at the central telemetry station
  • Monitor waveforms and identify normal rhythms and dysrhythmias
  • Document rhythm strips every shift and as needed when rhythm changes occur
  • Troubleshoot and maintain telemetry transmitters and receivers
  • Communicate abnormal rhythms or patient rhythm changes to the healthcare team
  • Assist, provide input, and serve as a resource to the healthcare team
  • Address or redirect questions and concerns from patients, families, caregivers, visitors, and healthcare team members
  • Maintain unit and regulatory education requirements
  • Participate in continuing education and quality improvement activities
  • Utilize material resources cost-effectively and recommend cost-saving measures
  • Respond appropriately to crisis and emergency situations and seek appropriate guidance

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Must be able to complete ECG Class and pass ECG exam Required
  • More than 10 months of telemetry technician experience in acute care Required
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate patient care
  • Knowledge of life-span growth and development principles
  • Ability to assess patient data and interpret information related to age-specific needs
