About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a liaison between providers, facilities, pharmacies, insurance plans, support staff, patients, and others
- Receive, triage, and respond to inbound patient-care requests via phone and electronic messages
- Follow up on requests with outbound calls and electronic messages
- Assist providers with virtual care activities, including gathering and documenting medical history, medication refills, test-result communication, and patient education
- Maintain provider schedules and prepare patients and charts for telehealth encounters
- Perform outpatient registration and appointment scheduling
- Refer patients to specialists
- Administer patient portals
- Authorize services, equipment, and medications
- Report to the Manager of Operations for administrative duties and to a licensed provider for clinical and patient-care responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED required
- Graduation certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant training program required
- 1 year experience in a medical office setting required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Medical Assisting Diploma/Certificate or passed exam required
- Completion of an approved training program, or completion of an unapproved training program and successful passage of the medical assistant examination administered by a certifying organization accredited by NCCA or ANSI, as described by the Arizona Administrative Code required
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Registered Medical Assistant (AMT-RMA) certification preferred
- If certification is not received within the assigned period, the candidate will no longer meet the minimum qualification and will be terminated
