About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Triage incoming calls to assess urgency and determine appropriate next steps using sound clinical judgment
  • Communicate with patients regarding care needs, testing results, and provider-directed information
  • Document all patient interactions accurately and in real time in the EHR
  • Provide basic patient education and counseling, including preparation for lab tests or behavioral health services
  • Serve as an interpreter when qualified
  • Advocate for patient rights and act as a liaison to ensure compassionate, culturally appropriate care
  • Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
  • Participate in required staff training, including HIPAA, OSHA, and departmental updates
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Behavioral Health Services Manager to support departmental operations and organizational needs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse certification
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Proficient in basic computer use, including EHR documentation
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to exercise sound judgment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with patients, staff, and external stakeholders
  • Preferred: Two years of experience in a healthcare or behavioral health setting
  • Preferred: Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Sufficient vision and hearing to perform duties and communicate by phone and in person
  • Occasionally required to lift or move items up to 25 pounds
  • Occasional travel between HOPE sites
  • May be subject to applicable State and Federal employment restrictions related to certain criminal backgrounds or exclusion/debarment lists
