  • Achieve assigned sales, gross margin and customer goals
  • Treat customers as business partners by recommending product solutions, upsell options and complementary items
  • Educate customers on the full product line, promotions, marketing opportunities, services and resources
  • Prospect for new customers including landscape contractors, golf courses and tax-supported organizations
  • Complete cold calls to establish new business relationships
  • Collaborate with team members and share customer feedback and market intelligence
  • Maintain a follow-up plan to develop qualified leads and preserve the book of business
  • Create and deliver complete and accurate customer quotes
  • Close sales and ensure deliveries occur as promised
  • Use safe driving skills and habits
  • Support operational and accounts receivable efforts
  • Complete data entry, paperwork and internal reports promptly
  • Assist with customer service and order entry when necessary
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 2 years in business-to-business sales in a wholesale distribution environment with a proven track record of success
  • Self-motivated and capable of planning and prioritizing work
  • Excellent cold call, negotiation, persuasion and closing skills
  • Solid product knowledge in irrigation products, fertilizers/chemicals, landscaping equipment or lighting, or outdoor living products
  • Better than average leadership, organization, presentation and time management skills
  • Clear spoken and written communication and critical-thinking ability
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups
  • Ability to perform business math, define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Strong computer and record-keeping skills and aptitude to learn evolving systems, programs, handheld technology and processes
  • Cooperative, dependable team player
  • Valid driver's license, satisfactory driving record with no more than 2 violations within 3 years, and willingness to travel within a designated area
  • Ability to occasionally lift/move up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to help with customer service and order entry when necessary
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background verifications
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred
