About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build and own Engine’s risk tolerance framework, including delinquency guardrails, fraud rate targets, and escalation thresholds
  • Establish second-line governance and define areas requiring Risk sign-off
  • Stand up and run Engine’s Risk Committee, including cadence, reporting, escalation, and leadership communications
  • Govern first-line operations and develop the Sr. Manager, Fraud Operations and Sr. Manager, Credit
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to translate risk policy into product logic, application-stage controls, and automation
  • Own the risk appetite conversation with Sales
  • Partner with Legal/Compliance on BSA/AML and card issuing compliance obligations
  • Translate operational risk signals into P&L language for finance, executive, and board audiences
  • Build risk reporting infrastructure for quarterly delinquency and fraud-rate reporting
  • Define the risk framework and governance layer for Engine X, Engine’s corporate card and spend management product

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8–10+ years in risk, with credit experience required; ideally credit and fraud
  • 3+ years leading teams
  • Demonstrated ability to balance risk rigor with business growth
  • Direct Product/Engineering partnership experience translating risk policy into product decisions and automation
  • Strong cross-functional influence with Sales and Product
  • Familiarity with BSA/AML, UDAAP, and card issuing compliance
  • Strong executive communication skills
  • Experience in fintech, card issuing, or lending required
  • FRM, CPA, or CFE certification a plus
  • Ability to work in the United States
  • English-language proficiency implied by the English posting but not explicitly required
