About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Hold the credit team accountable to the underwriting standard
  • Set decision quality expectations and review portfolio performance
  • Write and own the credit underwriting standard
  • Define credit signals, credit limits, exception treatment, and escalation paths
  • Build backtest infrastructure using historical application data
  • Analyze false positives on approved accounts
  • Partner with Data Science on credit model inputs and validation
  • Drive the transition from manual review to automated decisioning
  • Lead and develop the credit team
  • Set expectations, provide feedback, and build analytical capability
  • Deliver portfolio analytics to leadership
  • Coordinate with Fraud Operations on application fraud signals
  • Partner with senior leadership on credit policy governance and approval processes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8+ years of credit underwriting or credit risk experience
  • 3+ years of experience leading a credit team
  • Proven track record of designing operating models
  • Deep experience in business or commercial underwriting
  • Experience setting credit limits, interpreting financial signals, and making independent credit decisions
  • Hands-on experience with commercial credit bureaus, such as D&B or equivalent
  • End-to-end ownership of KYB (Know Your Business) processes
  • Experience tracking human-in-the-loop decision metrics and driving automation rates up
  • Capability in portfolio analytics, including delinquency, cohort performance, and limit utilization
  • Strong written communication for exception documentation and executive updates
  • Background in a fast-paced fintech, corporate card, or SMB credit environment
  • Experience contributing to automated credit decisioning engines preferred as a bonus qualification
  • Proficiency in SQL or Snowflake for self-serve data analysis preferred as a bonus qualification
