About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead HP Personal Systems' competitive intelligence on AI software, hardware, and the edge-AI ecosystem
  • Run continuous analysis of PC competitors and emerging challengers, including product roadmaps, AI positioning, go-to-market, partnerships, and pricing
  • Lead quarterly earnings analysis and business-performance comparisons
  • Maintain a full-stack map and point of view of the AI and edge-AI landscape
  • Convert findings into decision-ready strategic insights for strategy teams, division presidents, SVP, and PS president
  • Run scenario planning and war-gaming exercises and recommend HP's pre-emptive posture
  • Maintain an emerging-threat radar covering startups, new form factors, agentic devices, and regional entrants
  • Build AI-augmented tooling, data pipelines, and a shared knowledge base
  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of 3-4 analysts
  • Set the research agenda, quality bar, and operating cadence
  • Support Strategy and business leaders with research, analysis, testing, and presentations for PS Strategy Projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8+ years in competitive intelligence, corporate or competitive strategy, equity research, management consulting, or product/market strategy
  • Experience ideally touching technology hardware, semiconductors, or software
  • Strong working knowledge of the AI landscape across software and hardware models, on-device/edge AI, NPUs and accelerators, and the AI PC ecosystem
  • Financial and analytical fluency, including earnings calls, 10-Qs, unit economics, margins, and mix
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to distill complexity into clear narratives for senior executives
  • Strategic ability to connect signals to business risks and opportunities
  • Demonstrated people leadership and experience managing and developing analysts or associates
  • Executive presence and credibility with senior, cross-functional stakeholders
  • Preferred: experience in PC/client-device, semiconductor, or consumer-electronics industry
  • Preferred: familiarity with AI-augmented research tooling and LLM-based research workflows
  • Preferred: global market perspective, including China/APAC OEM dynamics and export-control and regulatory landscape
  • MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred
