About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide comprehensive administrative support to an HSS physician practice
- Arrange meetings and conferences
- Develop processes to maximize office resources and equipment
- Anticipate patient and physician needs
- Triage calls and patient inquiries
- Schedule patient appointments and procedures
- Verify medical insurance
- Collect patient payments
- Obtain insurance pre-certifications and authorizations
- Complete filing and chart preparation
- Liaise with billing company
- Promote a professional atmosphere through courteous communication, cooperation, and respect
- Answer phones and greet patients courteously
- Coordinate referral processes and ancillary services
- Coordinate surgical scheduling dates and enter them into Epic
- Ensure pre-authorization and pre-testing/documentation completion
- Manage checkout processes and collect copayments and outstanding balances
- Document patient charts and scan patient records
- Use scheduling, billing, Microsoft Office, and electronic medical record systems
- Operate phones, scanners, copiers, printers, and front-desk technology
- Prioritize workflow, assist colleagues, and support team productivity
- Cover for the Office Manager and train or cover support staff as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.), may include specialized or vocational courses
- 2 years of Healthcare/Medical-Medical Secretary experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
