About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Join Dr. Gbolabo Sokunbi’s practice as a full-time Physician Assistant
  • Assess and manage patients in the physician office setting
  • Provide physician-specific outpatient management, including hospital rounding, perioperative, and postoperative patient management when hospital credentialed
  • Provide clinical consultation, patient assessment, and management
  • Conduct outpatient evaluation, treatment, and follow-up of surgical patients
  • Provide preoperative, postoperative, and discharge education to patients and families
  • Review and interpret patient imaging and laboratory results
  • Communicate results and provide follow-up treatment and education
  • Educate patients and families about medical conditions and hospital courses
  • Document patient progress toward desired outcomes
  • Use computerized order communication systems for medical orders, test-result retrieval, and documentation
  • Maintain histories, physicals, and other written reports
  • Complete patient paperwork, including medication prior authorizations and plans of care
  • Assist the surgeon in the operating room as first assist
  • Liaise with the physician and hospital departments
  • Promote courteous communication, cooperation, teamwork, respect, and stellar customer service
  • Perform other duties needed for effective and safe patient care

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduated from an accredited CAAHEP-accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant studies required
  • Current New York State PA license/registration required
  • Current NJ and CT licenses, or actively pursuing licensure in both states
  • Current BLS/ACLS certification required
  • Current Infection Control Certification required
  • Completed child abuse recognition course required
  • NCCPA board certification required in the qualifications section
  • Strong clinical skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Team-player capability
  • Previous orthopedic experience highly desired but not required
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Able to continuously stand/walk or lift, handle, and carry 20–50 lbs
  • Able to work indoors with frequent exposure to dust, fumes, temperature, and noise
  • Category 1 blood/body-fluid exposure tasks
