About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Originate project finance and non-recourse senior debt transactions across Power & Renewables, Midstream, Transportation and P3 sectors.
  • Support the PFI, Underwriting and Portfolio Management team.
  • Work with clients, Relationship Managers and the Credit Department to underwrite and build a high-quality Project Finance portfolio.
  • Manage due diligence in credit underwriting, financial modeling, approval, execution and documentation.
  • Conduct post-closing operational and contractual activities.
  • Safeguard the operational and financial performance of financed projects.
  • Serve as the point person for underwriting credit transactions for the assigned portfolio and new clients.
  • Recommend capital structures and gather data for focused analysis.
  • Manage approvals for amendments and waivers to credit facilities and monitor portfolio company financial performance.
  • Review financial statements, projection models, project cash flow models and other relevant data for credit decisions.
  • Prepare credit underwriting identifying industry, market share, financial and other pertinent issues for the approving Credit Officer.
  • Ensure underwriting and structuring decisions support strong asset quality.
  • Recommend prudent use of capital and maintain portfolio profitability hurdles.
  • Obtain and negotiate credit agreements, notes, pledges, collateral and related documentation.
  • Participate in deal teams with loan syndication, origination and distribution for syndicated credits and new prospects.
  • Assist Relationship Managers with marketing presentations and pitch books.
  • Identify potential problem accounts and improve the bank’s position in undesirable situations.
  • Mentor junior professionals.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, economics or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: underwriting, credit, or portfolio management in Project Finance and competence in Financial Modeling.
  • Strong knowledge of the different power and energy markets in the US including the regulatory environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Renewable Energy Project Finance industry.
  • Experience in back-leverage transaction, community solar, distributed generation and other project finance assets (gas-fired power, LNG, transmission).
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of corporate banking credits, cash flow analysis, and underwriting guidelines.
  • Ability to thoroughly analyze credits on an independent basis and communicate findings in a concise manner.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
