About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the growing Project Finance and Infrastructure team
- Underwrite new transactions and manage the existing portfolio of project finance loans
- Work closely with clients, Relationship Managers, and the Credit Department
- Lead due diligence in credit underwriting, financial modeling, approval, execution, and documentation
- Conduct post-closing operational and contractual activities
- Safeguard the operational and financial performance of financed renewable energy projects
- Execute underwritings, refinancings, and amendments
- Recommend transaction structure, pricing, and capital allocation while applying credit policy
- Analyze financial statements, valuations, projections, stress tests, industry dynamics, business plans, risks, and mitigants
- Manage a portfolio of clients and complete annual reviews, renewals, amendments/waivers, ancillary credit product approvals, and quarterly risk ratings
- Maintain knowledge of clients, energy industry segments, and competitive environments
- Develop active portfolio management solutions, minimize credit losses, and manage and present watchlist clients
- Negotiate and ensure compliant legal documentation for credit events
- Coordinate and communicate with internal and external counsel
- Manage a larger portfolio of complex clients and financings
- Train and mentor Associate Directors, Associates, and Analysts
- Participate in the performance review process for Analysts
- Deliver credit analyses and risk-rating recommendations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in finance, economics, or accounting, with high academic achievement
- 7+ years of experience in underwriting, credit, or portfolio management in the Project Finance power and renewables sector
- Competence in financial modeling
- Strong knowledge and understanding of corporate banking credits, cash flow analysis, and underwriting guidelines
- In-depth knowledge of the US Project Finance industry
- MBA, CFA (or progressing to the Charter), or CPA desirable
- Ability to thoroughly analyze credits independently and communicate findings concisely
- Experience in a regulated financial institution setting
- Strong understanding of organizational lending and portfolio management policies and objectives
- Advanced deal execution and/or project management skills
- Ability to manage more than one client or major initiative
- Ability to create and deliver professional presentations
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
