About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

You coordinate and process import, export and customs transactions in compliance with applicable customs and foreign trade regulations
You ensure the proper handling of import and export transactions and support compliance with authorized customs procedures
You perform duties as Customs Officer and Export Control Officer for the German entities and help ensure compliance with applicable customs, foreign trade and export control regulations
You apply for and maintain customs authorizations, prepare required documentation and support the preparation for and execution of customs authority audits
You perform tariff classifications and reviews of product origin and preferential origin, and prepare or review supplier declarations
You maintain and update customs-relevant master data and support analyses as well as the preparation of statistics and key performance indicators
You coordinate with internal departments, service providers and authorities, serving as a point of contact for customs- and export-control-related questions
You support the preparation of work instructions as well as training and information initiatives on customs and export control topics
You support direct and transportation processes from a customs perspective and contribute to their compliant implementation

Requirements

What you’ll need

Completed commercial training, preferably in freight forwarding, logistics or foreign trade, together with further training in customs and foreign trade
Several years of professional experience in import, export and customs clearance
Sound knowledge of customs and foreign trade law as well as relevant customs procedures
Experience with SAP and, ideally, customs and export control systems
Structured, meticulous working style and a good understanding of business processes
Excellent communication and coordination skills when dealing with internal and external contacts
Good written and spoken German and English
