About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Run the day-to-day work of the Design Team, maintaining design quality and supporting the team
- Review design work before it reaches Account Managers or clients and provide actionable feedback
- Diagnose issues involving hierarchy, contrast, call-to-action weight, image/text balance, and mobile performance
- Advise Account Managers on campaign visual requirements and challenge weak briefs
- Design directly when workload requires
- Maintain consistency across client brands, niches, and visual identities
- Set and uphold standards for email and SMS campaigns, ad images, GIFs, and short video assets
- Understand client brand identities and advise on ideas, improvements, and optimisations
- Distribute and organise weekly workload and rebalance priorities when circumstances change
- Monitor workload, remove blockers, and ensure client-account design targets are met
- Run group calls and regular one-to-ones
- Collect and respond to team suggestions and concerns
- Mentor designers and onboard new designers
- Connect Design with other service teams through workshops, tutorials, and documentation
- Run training and skill-building sessions
- Improve workflows, handoffs, and communication
- Write and maintain team documentation
- Track useful Figma releases and design/email marketing trends
- Bring industry best practices to the Service Director and team
- Take on projects delegated by the Service Director
- Report to the Service Director and collaborate with Account Managers and other Hustler Marketing departments
Requirements
What you’ll need- At least 5 years of experience as a graphic designer, with a minimum of 3 years in email marketing design
- Expert-level Figma skills, including building and working from component libraries
- Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite or Affinity
- Experience producing ad images, animated GIFs, and short video edits
- An established portfolio showing on-brand, effective design work for a range of clients, stores, and niches
- Experience leading, mentoring, or coordinating other designers; a formal lead title is not required
- Ability to review design work and give written feedback that is specific and actionable
- Ability to distribute and reorganise a team's weekly workload, including at short notice
- Basic understanding of web design and landing pages is a plus
- Experience with Klaviyo or a comparable email marketing platform is a plus
- Comfortable with Slack, Asana, Hubstaff, Google Workspace, and Figma, and willing to learn other tools
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Remote work experience, ideally with a team spread across time zones
- Available and responsive Monday to Friday between 3 and 6 PM Barcelona time
- Consistently working 30 to 35 hours per week, or 140 hours per month
- Stable internet connection, laptop or PC, and ability to join video calls
- Fixed-rate monthly salary paid in USD
- Contractor status after signing a non-disclosure agreement
