About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Run the day-to-day work of the Design Team
  • Maintain high design standards across client work
  • Review design work before it reaches Account Managers or clients and provide actionable feedback
  • Diagnose design issues involving hierarchy, contrast, calls to action, image-to-text balance, and mobile performance
  • Advise Account Managers on visual campaign requirements and push back on weak briefs
  • Design directly when workload requires
  • Maintain consistency across client brands, niches, and visual identities
  • Set standards for email and SMS campaigns, ad images, GIFs, and short video assets
  • Distribute and organise weekly team workload
  • Reorganise work when priorities change, team members are unavailable, or clients add urgent requests
  • Monitor workload balance and prevent missed deadlines
  • Act as the first point of contact for blockers
  • Ensure client-account design targets are met
  • Run group calls and regular one-to-ones
  • Collect, address, and communicate responses to team suggestions and concerns
  • Mentor and develop designers
  • Onboard new designers
  • Connect Design with other service teams through workshops, tutorials, and documentation
  • Run training and skill-building sessions
  • Improve workflows, handoffs, and communication
  • Write and maintain team documentation
  • Track Figma updates and adopt useful features
  • Stay current on design and email marketing trends
  • Share industry best practices with the Service Director and team
  • Take on projects delegated by the Service Director
  • Report to the Service Director and collaborate with Account Managers and other departments at Hustler Marketing

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • At least 5 years of experience as a graphic designer, with a minimum of 3 years in email marketing design
  • Expert-level Figma skills, including building and working from component libraries
  • Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite or Affinity
  • Experience producing ad images, animated GIFs, and short video edits
  • An established portfolio showing on-brand, effective design work for a range of clients, stores, and niches
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or coordinating other designers
  • Ability to review design work and give written feedback that is specific and actionable
  • Ability to distribute and reorganise a team's weekly workload, including at short notice
  • Basic understanding of web design and landing pages is a plus
  • Experience with Klaviyo or a comparable email marketing platform is a plus
  • Comfortable with Slack, Asana, Hubstaff, Google Workspace, and Figma
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Remote work experience, ideally with a team spread across time zones
  • Available and responsive Monday to Friday between 3 and 6 PM Barcelona time
  • Consistently working 30 to 35 hours per week, or 140 hours per month
  • Stable internet connection, laptop or PC, and ability to join video calls
