About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own day-to-day customs clearance across the EU, including release for circulation, outward/inward processing, transit, customs warehousing, bonded storage, and temporary admission
  • Maintain HS/Taric classification and customs valuation for supplier-sourced and in-house manufactured goods
  • Identify and resolve international shipment risks before destination arrival
  • Apply Incoterms to allocate cost, risk, and responsibility across transport lanes
  • Prepare for and participate in customs audits and strengthen internal audit and control programs
  • Run Binding Tariff Information applications and maintain current rulings
  • Write clear standard operating procedures
  • Pursue free trade agreement benefits, including preferential origin, EUR.1, statements on origin, and REX registration
  • Maintain the supplier declaration chain
  • Track and report duty avoided, duty recovered, and landed-cost reductions
  • Contribute to freight-forwarding strategy across road, air, and sea
  • Identify routing, transport-mode, and documentation impacts on customs treatment and cost
  • Recognize dangerous-goods shipments and verify IATA DGR, ADR, and IMDG documentation
  • Support material flow between ICEYE’s Espoo site and worldwide sites by reconciling goods against ERP, WMS, and TMS records
  • Report to the Freight Forwarding Manager

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Demonstrated success reducing duty and landed cost through preferential origin, free trade agreements, relief or suspension regimes, classification, or valuation work
  • Working knowledge of rules of origin and origin documentation, including supplier declarations
  • Solid understanding of freight forwarding across road, air, and sea
  • Professional-level Finnish in addition to English
  • Curiosity, eagerness to learn, and ownership of the assigned scope
  • Experience with EU and US trade compliance is a plus, including Regulation (EU) 2021/821, EAR, ITAR, and denied-party screening
  • Hands-on freight forwarding experience is a plus
  • Warehousing and inbound/outbound operations experience is a plus
  • IATA DGR, ADR, or IMDG certification is a plus
  • Practical use of EU free trade agreement networks on aerospace or aviation lanes is a plus
  • Experience with defence and government customers in a fast-scaling manufacturing environment is a plus
  • Employment is subject to applicable security screening, including SUPO where required
