About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Direct and supervise a team of multi-craft hourly maintenance employees
- Oversee repair and preventive maintenance of chemical processing equipment, piping, electrical distribution, and instruments
- Plan, delegate, and control work assignments and special projects
- Execute the daily maintenance plan by assigning manpower and tools to individual jobs
- Provide input to the maintenance plan while minimizing waste, overtime, and schedule impact
- Coordinate permitting with operations to ensure personnel safety
- Analyze malfunctioning units and provide technical and logistical support to mechanics
- Establish and improve standard maintenance repair and preventive maintenance procedures
- Request or recommend repair parts, materials, equipment, and other resources
- Communicate across the organization to support department, site, and business goals
- Maintain staffing levels and vacation coverage planning
- Establish and manage work goals and performance standards for direct reports
- Document employee attendance and performance issues
- Assess individual training needs and plans
- Ensure compliance with plant policies, safety rules, PPE requirements, environmental regulations, and workforce rules
- Ensure accuracy of hourly payroll reports
- Establish housekeeping expectations and maintain clean assigned areas
- Lead and document safety, environmental, and quality investigations
- Participate in and document issues, disputes, or grievances
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED required
- 3-5 years of practical maintenance supervision experience at industrial, utility, or manufacturing facility
- Equivalent combination of acceptable education and progressive maintenance “hands on” experience may supplement the experience requirement
- Preferred: Associates degree in mechanical related program
- Preferred: Previous supervisory experience working in a chemical manufacturing organization in a union environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment along with managing multiple project/priorities/tasks
- Computer proficiency with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS): SAP preferred, or other CMMS such as Maximo
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must not require work-authorization sponsorship now or in the future
