About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage full-cycle accounting and day-to-day bookkeeping across the business
- Maintain accurate general ledger records
- Complete bank, credit card, balance sheet, and intercompany reconciliations
- Support accounts receivable, payroll administration, and GST, HST, and tax reporting
- Maintain complete financial records and ensure accurate, timely transaction recording
- Prepare monthly financial statements, schedules, and management reports for the Director of Finance
- Support month-end and year-end close, including reconciliations, adjusting entries, and working papers
- Assist with budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
- Analyze financial results across entities or locations to identify discrepancies, trends, risks, and opportunities
- Support internal controls, accounting policies, and consistent financial procedures
- Prepare documentation and schedules for year-end reviews, audits, and external accounting requirements
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, or automate accounting processes and reporting
- Collaborate with the Director of Finance and internal teams to resolve accounting questions and improve financial information quality
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field from a recognized university
- 3-5 years of progressive, hands-on accounting experience, including reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, and analysis
- Experience working in a multi-location, multi-entity, franchise, retail, construction, or similarly distributed business environment
- Strong working knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and applicable tax and regulatory requirements, including GST and HST
- Strong Excel skills and experience using accounting software or ERP systems
- Excellent accuracy, organization, ownership, and ability to manage recurring deadlines independently
- Clear communication skills and ability to work effectively with finance and non-finance stakeholders
- CPA designation or active progress toward a Canadian CPA designation preferred
- Experience with QuickBooks Online or comparable cloud-based accounting platform preferred
- Experience supporting a franchise network or a business operating across Canada and the United States preferred
- Experience improving accounting workflows, controls, or reporting through automation preferred
- Approximately 20 to 30 hours per week across 5 days
- Generally available Monday to Friday during morning and early afternoon hours, within the 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. window
- Located in the Metro Vancouver area and able and willing to commute
- Authorization to work in Canada, including any conditions or expiry dates affecting ongoing part-time work
