About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Set up and operate headers, slotters, and thread rollers for production of fasteners and precision metal components
  • Select tooling, adjust machine settings, and install fixtures according to production specifications
  • Load metal wire or rods and adjust feeding and cutting mechanisms
  • Program and adjust machine controls, including speed, feed rate, and tooling positions
  • Monitor temperature, pressure, speed, and material flow to maintain quality and prevent malfunctions
  • Conduct test runs and inspections before full production runs
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
  • Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting machinery
  • Conduct dimensional, visual, and functional quality inspections
  • Record machine settings, material usage, output, downtime, and quality results
  • Follow safety protocols, SOPs, and regulatory guidelines
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent education and experience required
  • More than one year of related machine set-up and operation experience OR a minimum of one to two years of related set-up and machine operation or other relevant hands-on mechanical experience
  • Experience interpreting mechanical blueprints
  • Experience using calipers
  • Technical knowledge of machinery and equipment used in fastener production, including headers, slotters, and thread rollers
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Attention to detail and quality, with ability to follow instructions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work efficiently under pressure
  • Basic computer skills to operate computerized control systems
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and/or sitting and reaching with hands and arms
  • Ability to lift 60 pounds at a time
