About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Direct all shift personnel assigned to the 3rd shift
- Provide direction to work teams and maintain a safe work environment
- Ensure personnel complete required training
- Achieve or exceed performance levels for safety, quality, delivery, and productivity
- Oversee materials handling, production planning and control, manufacturing, packaging, inventory control, shipping, equipment, and plant maintenance
- Supervise Packaging, Assembly, DC, and Component manufacturing team members
- Ensure daily production schedules are met while maintaining safety, environmental, quality, and cost objectives
- Lead employee selection, hiring, development, performance reviews, and development plans
- Manage personnel training, certifications, and hands-on training
- Ensure compliance with the Quality System and Environmental Management System
- Participate in decisions concerning hiring, promotion, discipline, and discharge
- Hold employees accountable for safety, environmental, quality, and quantity standards
- Interpret MRP reports to plan, organize, and schedule high-volume production requirements
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues
- Coordinate high-volume work orders with support functions
- Lead continuous improvement activities using lean manufacturing tools and automated inspection requirements
- Improve operating efficiencies, reduce costs, and address downtime, safety, and quality issues
- Contain nonconforming product and complete a RID
- Participate in strategic direction, annual budgeting, capital investment planning, and operational goal setting as part of the plant senior management team
- Perform other typical duties when necessary
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of five years of experience in manufacturing environment including supervising hourly associates
- Understanding of ERP systems, including bill of materials, work order management, and inventory control
- Strong computer skills
- Proven track record of improving overall efficiencies, reducing cost, and leading teams to effect positive change within the organization
- Microsoft Office experience (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- A relevant business or engineering degree is preferred
- Knowledge of lean techniques may be advantageous
