About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Shape and govern IDEXX’s enterprise technology ecosystem
  • Align target-state architecture across ERP, CRM, commercial diagnostic platforms, laboratory information systems, cloud data platforms, and integration layers
  • Establish visibility, standards, and future-state direction for coordinated technology decisions across business units
  • Build and maintain the enterprise architecture inventory in Ardoq, including applications, owners, costs, risks, and lifecycle status
  • Develop business capability maps connecting the technology landscape to business value
  • Define future-state architecture, principles, standards, and exception processes
  • Embed enterprise architecture into the Software Realization Framework
  • Chair a lightweight Architecture Review Board through Software Realization Framework checkpoints
  • Coordinate the EA Center of Excellence and domain and solution architects across IDEXX business lines
  • Champion shared data standards, integration patterns, and identity management foundations
  • Lead application portfolio rationalization, retiring redundant systems, decoupling legacy monoliths, and optimizing total cost of ownership
  • Mentor and develop architects across the Center of Excellence without formal reporting authority
  • Communicate architecture direction, trade-offs, and progress to delivery teams and senior leadership
  • Track and report measurable EA outcomes, including reduced rework, fewer duplicate systems, and faster delivery

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in IT/software engineering, solutions design, and enterprise architecture
  • Experience establishing architecture roadmaps across multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, and/or GCP)
  • Practical knowledge of industry EA frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman, or equivalent)
  • Pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset involving Agile, DevOps, and product-mode operating models
  • Experience building or significantly maturing an enterprise architecture practice within a complex, multi-business-unit organization
  • Hands-on experience implementing an EA or application portfolio management tool (Ardoq, LeanIX, Avolution, Mega, or similar)
  • Experience configuring inventories, capability maps, and integrations
  • Ability to influence without authority across a matrixed organization
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to articulate business impact, financial ROI, and complex technical trade-offs to C-suite and VP-level stakeholders
  • Experience establishing lightweight architecture governance embedded within existing delivery processes
  • Direct experience with Ardoq preferred
  • Background in healthcare, diagnostics, veterinary, or another multi-platform B2B/B2C organization preferred
  • Experience in an organization that grew through acquisition preferred
  • Exposure to AI initiatives consuming enterprise data, identity, and integration foundations preferred
  • TOGAF, AWS/Azure Certified Solutions Architect Professional, or equivalent certifications preferred
  • Experience building standards, principles, or governance processes from the ground up in a growing practice preferred
