About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide telephone consultations for canine, feline, and equine dermatology cases
- Advise veterinarians on diagnostic test selection, sample collection, and interpretation of dermatologic disease results
- Support customers with clinical interpretation of serum allergy testing, skin and ear cultures, skin biopsies, and dermatopathology findings
- Deliver timely, high-quality consultations while meeting caseload and turnaround expectations
- Remain accessible during consultation service hours and provide responsive support to veterinary peers
- Maintain current knowledge of veterinary dermatology literature and emerging clinical best practices
- Participate in Medical Consulting team meetings, continuing education opportunities, and organizational initiatives
- Maintain active ACVD Diplomate status, if applicable
- Maintain applicable state or provincial veterinary licensure
- Document consultation details accurately within the customer relationship management system
- Contribute to the success and growth of IDEXX Medical Consulting Services by delivering an exceptional customer experience
Requirements
What you’ll need- DVM or VMD degree with a current veterinary license in good standing
- Board certification through the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (ACVD)
- Residency-trained or practice-limited-to dermatology practitioners with substantial clinical experience will also be considered for a role at a different level
- Strong clinical expertise in veterinary dermatology and management of dermatologic diseases in dogs, cats, and horses
- Full-time availability preferred; part-time candidates must provide consistent availability during consultation service hours
- Flexibility within Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time consultation service hours
- Experience interpreting laboratory results and applying diagnostic information to patient care decisions
- Excellent verbal communication and consultation skills
- Ability to manage multiple cases while meeting service level and turnaround expectations in a remote environment
- Fluency in English
- Additional language skills are a plus
