About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Gather and verify information through interviews, observation and research, ensuring that reported news remains objective and balanced
- Monitor sources for breaking news, including wires and social media
- Plan, write, edit and voice news broadcasts
- Finalize content using digital audio editing software
- Maintain crucial deadlines to provide news stories in a timely fashion
- Repackage content from producers and field reporters for newscasts
- Identify technical equipment and resource requirements for recording interviews and other audio material
- Produce assigned features and interviews
- Prepare written content, visual images, audio material and video footage for websites, blogs and social-media platforms
- Anchor newscasts for multiple markets
- Produce, edit and write content for 24/7 Newswire
- Gather audio from press conferences, live events and partner TV stations
- Produce short-form reports for anchors on the following shift
- Anchor breaking news reports as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experienced anchor/writer/reporter
- Anchor newscasts for multiple markets
- Write clear, concise news copy
- Produce, edit and write content for 24/7 Newswire
- Ability and willingness to work weekends and flexible hours during the week
- Post news and video content to newsroom social media platforms
- Gather audio from press conferences, live events and partner TV stations
- Produce short-form reports (voicers/wraps) for anchors on the following shift
- May be called on to anchor breaking news reports as needed
- General newsroom responsibilities and other duties as assigned
