About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Receive, review, and maintain all facility time and attendance records
- Prepare and audit complex financial documents for the facility
- Prepare Payroll Time Report
- Monitor daily functions and activities of the timekeeping department
- Monitor, review, and assemble data for the monthly sick time usage summary report
- Serve as backup to other Account Technician I employees
- Identify discrepancies and research information to resolve them
- Provide information and assistance to employees
- Serve as liaison for the Timekeeping department
- Verify that filing systems are maintained
- Verify the accuracy of prepared reports before submission to payroll
- Perform other duties reasonably within the scope of the listed duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- Completion of two years of college and completion of an approved training course, or three years of related clerical bookkeeping experience
- Knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the stated minimum qualifications
- Ability to pass an Illinois Department of Corrections/Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice background check
- Ability to pass a drug screen
- Working knowledge of accounting techniques preferred
- Working knowledge of state or non-state accounting procedures preferred
- Working knowledge of office methods and procedures preferred
- Working knowledge of standard office accounting machines and equipment preferred
- Ability to supervise a small staff of subprofessionals preferred
- Ability to apply established accounting techniques preferred
- Qualifying state employees in the Upward Mobility Program may complete specified proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of state requirements
