About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan, develop, and implement strategic communications promoting Intermountain Health's mission, vision, values, reputation, and brand
- Lead internal and external communications, crisis communications, media relations, social media, branding initiatives, and community relationships
- Oversee high-priority strategies and a broad portfolio across departments and functions
- Serve as a trusted strategic advisor and MarCom liaison to the Region President and Region Executive Team
- Coordinate with the Region President, Market Presidents, ambulatory care leaders, and other stakeholders
- Oversee communications functions, work, and caregivers across the Peaks Region
- Partner with Enterprise, Canyons, and Desert Regions on community relationships and internal communications
- Coordinate with Government Affairs, Community Health, Operations, Marketing, Branding, Media Relations, Children's Health, community leaders, and other departments
- Advise on community relations, public affairs, reputation management, stakeholder engagement, and sensitive issues
- Lead, manage, coach, and develop a team of communications professionals
- Develop and direct integrated communications plans aligned with Intermountain Health's strategic goals and priorities
- Direct crisis communications planning at hospitals and clinics across acute and ambulatory care
- Provide strategic communications support to senior leaders, departments, and teams
- Enhance Intermountain Health's reputation among employees, patients, providers, media, partners, opinion leaders, and the public
- Monitor, measure, and analyze communications effectiveness using data and analytics
- Build relationships with opinion leaders and media outlets and serve as a primary spokesperson
- Write, edit, and approve newsletters, articles, speeches, presentations, and other communications materials
- Report to the VP of MarCom for the Canyons, Desert, and Peaks Regions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Advanced experience in communications, media relations, journalism, public relations, or a related field
- Expertise in writing, editing, and creating impactful marketing/communications plans
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced leadership and management skills
- Advanced strategic and creative thinking
- Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Experience leading and communicating through crisis situations
- Project leadership and organizational skills, including planning, prioritizing, and executing multiple projects within deadlines and budgets
- Media relations and public relations skills, including leading story pitches and responding to inquiries
- Demonstrated experience advising senior executives on strategic communications, reputation management, crisis response, stakeholder engagement, and high-profile organizational initiatives
- Experience working with government leaders, public agencies, community organizations, economic development organizations, higher education institutions, chambers of commerce, or other influential external stakeholders
- Master's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, English, or a related field is preferred
- Ability to regularly partner in person with region leadership and attend meetings in the Broomfield area
- Expected to drive a vehicle
- Ability to comply with confidentiality, information security, work schedules, conflicts of interest, and company equipment expectations for hybrid work
