About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage intake, coordination, and timely implementation of Home Medical Equipment and supply orders
- Act as liaison among referral sources, providers, patients, and internal service lines
- Review referrals, verify medical necessity, coordinate deliveries, and provide patient education
- Facilitate one-on-one equipment setups or fittings and instruct patients and caregivers on equipment use, care, and safety
- Deliver HME products and supplies to customers when assigned to a field/delivery role
- Respond to phone calls, emails, chats, and in-person inquiries; triage and route communications
- Gather referral information, enter data into the EMR, and verify insurance benefits or self-pay status
- Manage equipment and supply fulfillment and coordinate delivery or patient pickup
- Support patient discharges and transitions of care with hospital liaisons and case managers
- Process point-of-sale transactions, receive payments, and coordinate delivery or pickup
- Collaborate across departments and maintain internal and external relationships
- Address concerns while applying knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, third-party billing, privacy, and confidentiality requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Demonstrated experience in a customer service role
- Ability to work independently with self-motivation, accountability, and sound judgment
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and dependability
- Effective organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet, email, and scheduling tools
- Ability to understand and speak English clearly
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work collaboratively
- For field/delivery positions: current insured driver’s license, reliable transportation, and acceptable driving record
- Preferred: experience with home or durable medical equipment
- Preferred: experience coordinating office operations and administrative tasks
- Preferred: experience providing direct or supportive patient care
- Ability to meet physical requirements including seeing/reading information, frequent communication, hearing/listening, manual dexterity, computer operation, and prolonged sitting or standing
