About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Source and screen deals, conduct research, and perform due diligence
- Perform industry and competitive research
- Draft opportunity memos
- Collaborate with evaluation teams to recommend potential pilots and evaluate financial opportunities
- Identify potential new investment opportunities under direction of senior investment team
- Conduct research and interviews with company management, financial sponsors, industry participants, customers, and clients
- Perform valuation analysis using comparable company data, proprietary financial models, and discounted cash flow analysis when applicable
- Construct detailed financial models, including optimal capital structure, purchase price, adjustments, and economic sensitivity analyses
- Collaborate with implementation teams and internal stakeholders to assess risks and synergy opportunities
- Work with legal counsel on legal due diligence and transaction closing items
- Draft investment memos and ongoing portfolio company updates
- Assist in managing portfolio companies post-investment
- Conduct risk assessments and escalate identified risks to leadership
- Support additional funding decisions and exit strategy analyses
- Represent fund-related activities externally and attend industry conferences and related events
- Network with leading investment firms to source deals
- Maintain high-quality data in Salesforce, Workfront, and other databases
- Support weekly and monthly performance reporting
- Review investment analyst memos and financial models and provide feedback
- Support additional Intermountain Ventures projects as needed
- Report to managing directors and partners, with additional supervision from a venture principal
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; degree will be verified
- Two years of experience at a major venture capital firm, consulting firm, or investment bank
- Strong Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
- Strong understanding of research, presentation development, and valuation methodologies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong financial modeling skills
- Experience balancing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience teaming with system stakeholders to identify needs and opportunities and source solutions
- Demonstrated technical and analytical skills
- Preferred: Master's of Business Administration (MBA) or other related field
- Preferred: Five years in asset management, corporate or business development, financial services, investment banking, mergers, acquisitions or divestitures, venture capital or management consulting
