About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Register and schedule patients at Intermountain Health facilities system-wide
- Act as a liaison between provider offices and facilities
- Create and manage provider surgery and hospital procedure schedules
- Maintain schedule changes, cancellations, rescheduling, and clinical follow-up
- Use Provider power plans to ensure necessary orders are proposed, signed off, and sent for hospital orders
- Obtain surgery and hospital procedure authorizations by researching coverage and prior authorization requirements
- Verify eligibility and benefits
- Coordinate referrals for patients going out of network
- Serve as point of contact for surgery authorization questions
- Obtain proper CPT codes from providers for authorization
- Propose iCentra requirements to create pre-surgical FIN numbers and surgical scheduling cards
- Coordinate surgical and procedure equipment requests with providers, hospital nursing staff, and surgical supply representatives
- Call in surgical and procedure orders to hospital schedulers the day before cases
- Meet with surgery and procedure patients to explain the process and pre-operative requirements
- Coordinate with providers and medical staff regarding red-flag pre-operative health concerns
- Scan and document processes in patient charts and relay cost estimates
- Investigate billing disputes for surgery and procedure services
Requirements
What you’ll need- Two years of medical registration, billing, collection, scheduling, or insurance experience
- Two years of customer service experience
- Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and calendaring programs
- Associate's Degree preferred; degree must be obtained through an accredited institution and is verified
- Two years at Intermountain Health as a PSR, MA or similar position preferred
- Two years of experience working with patient access or extensive knowledge of the health insurance industry, health claims billing, or Third Party contracts preferred
- EMR experience preferred
- Bi-lingual - Spanish speaking preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Versed in CPT/ICD codes preferred
- Ability to see and read information, labels, documents, monitors, equipment, and supplies
- Ability to verbally communicate and hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately
- Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate supplies and equipment with precision and accuracy
- Computer proficiency for typing and accessing needed information
