About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist pharmacists with all phases of pharmacy services under required supervision
- Answer phones and provide customer service
- Collect clinical and patient information and maintain records
- Use pharmacy technology to prepare medication orders, perform calculations, and compound medications as appropriate
- Obtain supervision and pharmacist accuracy checks and identify tasks requiring pharmacist verification
- Fill and maintain medication supplies, including controlled substance inventories and 340B/charging management
- Package and label medications accurately to minimize waste
- Maintain pharmacy cleanliness and orderliness
- Communicate with caregivers about responsibilities and concerns
- Participate in quality, patient safety, departmental, and process-improvement initiatives
- Promote Intermountain Health's mission, vision, values, and service standards
- Deliver consistent, flexible, detail-oriented care and perform other assigned duties
- Support departmental financial responsibilities and team goals, activities, and projects
- Deliver medications, information, and service professionally and promptly
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School or equivalent is required
- Current pharmacy technician certification and/or license applicable to state of practice
- Current knowledge of state and federal regulations and statutes regarding pharmacy practice and distribution of drugs, controlled substances, and investigational agents
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification as appropriate to practice site
- Competence in technical responsibilities and willingness to seek training and peer feedback
- Ability to comply with state and federal pharmacy laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Regular attendance during scheduled business hours or shifts
- Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multifunctional team
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to function successfully in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment
- Competence using computers and software, including Microsoft Office Suite and Google
- Ability to learn new relevant applications
- Ability to perform required physical activities, including lifting, standing, walking, manual dexterity, and speaking
