About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support SelectHealth initiatives by reviewing genetic testing pre-authorization requests, appeals, and medical coverage policies
- Educate ordering providers on genetic testing options, insurance and billing matters, test results, and medical management
- Provide occasional patient education and counseling regarding genetic test options or results
- Conduct utilization review and laboratory stewardship to determine proper test ordering and manage high-priority or complex cases
- Participate in individual and team-directed research projects
- Present research findings at professional meetings
- Prepare manuscripts for submission to professional journals
- Communicate clearly and directly with providers and patients verbally and in writing
- Participate in peer review by providing and receiving objective, constructive feedback
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited program
- Eligibility for certification by the American Board of Genetic Counselors (ABGC) at time of hire, with certification required within one year of hire
- Licensed as a Genetic Counselor in the state of practice (Utah)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience reading, interpreting, and critically evaluating scientific literature
- Experience using PowerPoint, word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet, e-mail, and scheduling tools
- Experience requiring effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to verbally communicate and understand spoken information
- Ability to operate computers, telephones, and office equipment and manipulate paper
- Ability to see and read computer monitors and documents
- Ability to remain sitting or standing for long periods while working
