Housing Stability Specialist

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide case management services to help program participants work toward self-sufficiency goals
- Assist participants with housing and social service needs
- Determine eligibility for housing funds
- Communicate with landlords
- Complete paperwork and case notes for accurate and timely rental-fund administration
- Assess potential client program eligibility
- Meet individually with clients at the office or at clients’ homes when they cannot commute
- Help clients define, work toward, and reach housing-related goals
- Maintain case files
- Enter data into Multnomah County’s Service Point system
- Enter data into IRCO’s data entry system
- Distribute assistance funds to landlords or utility companies
- Refer clients to other assistance sources
- Provide recruitment, screening, assessment, and case management services
- Complete case management paperwork
- Attend Multnomah County Stability Initiative trainings and meetings
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and committees
- Interact with IRCO staff and community partners and refer clients to them
- Occasionally orient or train new employees or volunteers
Requirements
What you’ll need- English required; bilingual in Spanish preferred
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Verification of current auto-insurance
- Full use of automobile during work hours
- Some college course work and a combination of relevant experience
- 1-2 years of experience is required
- Prepare clear and concise reports
- Ability to function positively in a demanding work environment
- Flexibility when responding to frequently changing priorities and schedules
- Ability to multi-task and meet multiple, sometimes conflicting deadlines
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and grammar skills
- Analytical and decision-making abilities
- Ability to use a personal computer and analyze data
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to use other software packages, including internal and external email/internet
- Ability to use basic office equipment
- Ability to respond effectively to pressure involving individual circumstances and agency policies
- Ability to deal effectively with distressed and/or demanding customers and employees
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Ability to listen, understand, and assist in problem solving
- Ability to communicate well with varied personality types, organizational levels, and external contacts
- Excellent grammar, spelling, and writing skills
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to individuals and groups by telephone
- Punctuality, good attendance, and ability to work flexible hours
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, drive, talk on the telephone, and use a PC for long periods
- Engage fully in recommended professional development and assigned or required training activities
