About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide excellent customer service and documentation while communicating with patients, insurance representatives, clinic personnel, and outside vendors
  • Verify and document insurance information according to current business practices
  • Research denials and report findings to the billing denial team
  • Schedule new and existing patients accurately and efficiently in the practice management system
  • Answer inbound calls in a timely, pleasant, and professional manner
  • Communicate appointment information, directions, check-in times, referral information, and copayments
  • Respond to inquiries by phone, email, or other written documentation
  • Maintain working knowledge of health care plan requirements and health plan networks
  • Make outbound calls to patients and/or insurance companies regarding benefit inquiries and authorization details
  • Document interactions according to current policy
  • Travel as needed for team meetings
  • Comply with TCO and therapy policies and procedures
  • Complete daily tasks and follow up as designated
  • Contribute to cohesive team relationships
  • Follow Telecommuting policy requirements when working from home
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School diploma/GED or equivalent
  • Customer service experience required
  • Previous experience in a healthcare facility related to pre-registration, insurance verification, or appointment scheduling preferred
  • Ability to comply with company policies, procedures, practices, business ethics guidelines, and applicable laws and regulations (e.g. HIPAA, Stark, OSHA, employment laws)
  • Prompt and reliable attendance
  • Ability to work at an efficient and productive pace, handle interruptions appropriately, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize workload effectively
  • Respectful and professional communication in face-to-face, phone, and email interactions
  • Ability to apply logical thinking to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to sit for extended periods, up to 8 or more hours per day
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents
  • Ability to lift and carry office supplies or files weighing up to 20 pounds
  • Visual acuity to read electronic and paper documents
  • Auditory ability to participate clearly in phone or video calls
  • Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment
