About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build and evolve payment services end to end using Go, Node.js, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL
- Design and implement payment gateway integrations for authorization, capture, cancellation, and refunds
- Build reliable transaction workflows handling retries, timeouts, idempotency, concurrency, and partial failures
- Drive technical solutions from discovery through production and own outcomes
- Help migrate legacy systems to a scalable, modular architecture
- Ensure production reliability and observability through monitoring, logs, tracing, automated testing, and incident analysis
- Improve engineering standards through code reviews, architectural decisions, testing strategies, and development practices
- Collaborate with Product and engineering teams to clarify requirements, communicate trade-offs, and deliver aligned solutions
- Mentor teammates, facilitate technical discussions, and provide technical leadership
- Contribute to deployment and operations using AWS, Docker, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong hands-on experience building production services with Go
- Experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL
- Experience with distributed systems and microservices
- Knowledge of software architecture, clean architecture, domain-driven design, modularity, and legacy modernization
- Reliability engineering experience, including idempotency, timeouts, observability, incident troubleshooting, and resilient systems
- Experience with unit, integration, and contract testing
- Experience with AWS, Docker, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines
- Technical leadership experience, including mentoring, code reviews, technical discussions, and influencing decisions
- Cross-functional collaboration with Product and engineering teams
- Experience with payment systems or transactional domains; direct payment experience is a strong plus
- Daily use of AI agents and assistants in development workflow
- Knowledge of PCI-DSS scope and tokenization, webhook authentication, and sensitive data handling
- Strong technical problem-solving, ownership, clear communication, and pragmatic decision-making
