About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, develop, test, and document embedded system software for new and existing Insulet products
- Ensure software designs comply with company policies and medical-product design and maintenance requirements
- Write and maintain design documentation and testing requirements
- Collaborate with Quality, Regulatory, Marketing, and Manufacturing to meet technical, regulatory, and manufacturing requirements
- Work with software, software QA, and hardware engineers to integrate, debug, and test systems
- Participate in product design reviews
- Contribute to software project initiatives related to product development and improvements
- Perform other duties as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in software engineering and at least 5 years of relevant work experience, or a master's degree in a related field and 3 years of relevant experience
- Strong programming skills in C and/or C++
- Hands-on experience with Embedded Systems
- Experience with processors such as ARM, TI, and MSP or similar embedded systems/microcontrollers
- Knowledge of software design principles and embedded software development
- Experience developing software for embedded microcontrollers
- Knowledge of OS concepts, including threading, mutual exclusion, deadlocks, and interrupt service routines
- Understanding of RTOS and real-time systems
- Strong object-oriented programming experience
- Experience designing, implementing, maintaining, and testing embedded software components
- Knowledge of communication interfaces and protocols such as I2C, SPI, USB, Flash, and EEPROM
- Experience with wireless communication protocols, including Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), preferred
- Familiarity with communication systems and wireless technologies
- Experience working within Agile or other software development lifecycle methodologies
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics is a plus
- Medical device industry experience preferred
- Ability to work in a general office environment and sit for long periods of time
