About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, develop, test, document, and maintain embedded software for new and existing Insulet products
  • Own assigned work end-to-end, including implementation, debugging, documentation, and verification
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex software and system issues across multiple components, disciplines, or product generations
  • Evaluate technical tradeoffs, investigate root causes, and drive issues to resolution with minimal supervision
  • Ensure software designs and development activities comply with company policies and applicable medical-device regulatory requirements
  • Create and maintain design documentation, requirements, and test artifacts
  • Partner with Quality, Regulatory, Marketing, Manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams
  • Collaborate with software, software quality, and hardware engineers to integrate, debug, and test system functionality
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and team planning; share knowledge and support teammates
  • Adapt to changing team and product priorities across development, maintenance, and support activities
  • Provide technical leadership, guide design decisions, mentor team members, and drive technical excellence
  • Perform other duties as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering, Computer Science, or a related field and 10+ years of relevant work experience; or a master's degree in a related field and 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong programming skills in C and/or C++
  • Hands-on experience with embedded systems
  • Experience developing embedded software for ARM, TI, MSP, or similar microcontroller-based systems
  • Ability to contribute effectively on a shared codebase and collaborate with internal and external team members
  • Willingness to provide technical leadership through mentoring, reviewing, or guiding design areas while remaining hands-on and team-oriented
  • Knowledge of I2C, SPI, Flash, EEPROM and/or USB
  • Familiarity with communication systems and/or wireless protocols; BLE is a plus
  • Medical device or other regulated-industry experience
  • Knowledge of OS concepts, including threading, mutual exclusion, interrupts, and deadlock avoidance
  • Understanding of RTOS and real-time systems
  • Object-oriented design knowledge where applicable
  • Ability to read electrical schematics
  • Familiarity with Agile or other SDLC practice
  • Ability to work in a general office environment and sit for long periods of time
