About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Determine the causes and origin of accident damage by examining vehicles using a software application
  • Assess and approve repair estimates for claims adjusters by comparing estimates with vehicle examinations
  • Establish vehicle market values when required, using tools in the appraisers' standards and procedures manual
  • Use digital automated evaluation systems to standardize repair estimates and avoid errors
  • Negotiate and communicate best repair practices or procedures
  • Ensure productivity and service quality according to appraiser standards and Claims Department objectives
  • Cover the Edmonton area or Northern Regions including Grande Prairie and Fort McMurray

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • College Diploma or University Degree or equivalent Trade's person license or any combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Collision estimating or repair experience, including knowledge of Audatex and Mitchell estimating software
  • Comprehensive knowledge of automobile physical damage repair and replacement principles and techniques
  • Commitment to continuing education
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in the collision repair industry
  • Strong analytical skills to define problems/issues, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to prepare auto repair estimates using Audatex estimating software
  • Open communication with shop owners, managers and appraisers during the appraisal process
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to draft claims reports
  • Customer-driven approach
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada from the anticipated start date and throughout employment; Intact does not provide immigration sponsorship
