About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Support lawyers in managing litigation files across Intact’s various lines of business
Conduct legal and factual research and analysis, as well as quantum analysis
Draft memoranda, fact summaries, and legal proceedings in collaboration with lawyers and legal support staff
Complete registrations and filings with relevant registries, including the Register of Personal and Movable Real Rights (RDPRM) and the land registry
Conduct searches in various public registries
Contribute to legal knowledge management within Claims Legal Services
Create and maintain tools that facilitate the work of lawyers and managers, including legal reference sheets, directories, quantum tables, tables of presumptions, and statistics
Participate in process improvement initiatives, particularly in document management
Deliver information sessions on the tools available to the team
Integrate artificial intelligence tools to maximize the efficiency and quality of work produced
Collaborate with a team of legal professionals on matters involving insurance, civil liability, construction, and other areas related to Intact’s business activities

Requirements

What you’ll need

At least 5 years of legal experience
College diploma in Legal Techniques, or equivalent education and experience
Strong knowledge of the stages of a litigation file and the documents associated with legal proceedings, hearings, and trials
At least 5 years of experience in legal research, document management, and preparing exhibit or case-law binders
Excellent command of spoken and written French
Fluency in spoken and written French and English is an asset
Knowledge of legal research tools and public registries
Knowledge of artificial intelligence tools is an asset
Rigor, sound judgment, discretion, and a strong sense of responsibility
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage priorities and multiple files simultaneously
Strong legal research, analysis, and drafting skills
Clear verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present research findings
Effective collaboration with lawyers, colleagues, and business partners
Proactivity, curiosity, and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving
Comfort with technology tools and a willingness to integrate artificial intelligence responsibly
Energetic, efficient, adaptable, and team-oriented
Must be eligible to work in Canada from the anticipated start date and throughout employment; Intact does not provide immigration sponsorship
