About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build the path from discovery to production so data science models written in Python or PySpark run on Databricks batch jobs and real-time Kafka streams without rewrites
Work with the Platform PO and Program Systems Business Analyst to turn architecture ideas into sprint work
Write and review code, maintain quality, and help migrate legacy services toward modern event-driven architectures
Partner with DevOps and QA on testing, model versioning, safe deployments, rollback plans, and drift monitoring
Help Data Science evaluate algorithms and data feeds including GPS, accelerometer, and Mapbox
Collaborate with engineers at all levels and contribute to continuous improvement
Support healthy team dynamics and help resolve competing priorities
Translate technical trade-offs for business stakeholders and business priorities for engineers

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of experience in data / engineering
Strong experience with Spark/PySpark, Databricks including Unity Catalog and Delta Lake, and AWS including S3, IAM, ECS/EKS, and ALB
Experience with Kafka, real-time event processing, and schema management
Expert Python skills
Sufficient Java/Spring Boot skills to work with backend services
Hands-on MLOps experience with MLflow, GitLab CI/CD, Docker, Terraform, and monitoring tools such as Dynatrace
Collaboration across data science, engineering, infrastructure, architecture, and business disciplines
Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical and business priorities for different audiences
Ability to give and receive direct, constructive feedback
Bilingualism in French and English, with regular interaction with colleagues across Canada
Must be eligible to work in Canada; Canadian work experience is not required
